Overview:

The Wabtec ET44AC (Evolution Series Tier 4, AC traction) is a high-horsepower diesel-electric locomotive built by Wabtec Corporation (formerly GETransportation) to meet the stringent EPA Tier 4 emissions standards. It is part of GEs Evolution Series (GEVO) and is designed to replace the ES44AC,featuring enhanced fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

There are several variations of the ET44AC, such as the ET44C4 ordered by BNSF. The ET44C4 comes with 4 traction motors instead of the common 6. Themiddle axles of the ET44C4 are operated by computer control for weight distribution purposes.
